“The Tale of Genji” (“Genji-monogatari”), the greatest monument of Japanese and world literature, was created at the turn of the 10th-11th centuries, during the era of the formation and rapid flowering of Japanese culture. Its author is a court lady known as Murasaki Shikibu. The monument is being published in Russian translation for the first time - in five books. The first four books include 54 chapters of the Tale. In the fifth, reference book - “Appendix” - in addition to an extensive research article and a set of five lines quoted in the “Tale” from old poetic anthologies, there are diagrams, tables, drawings that will help readers navigate the complex world of this work.

Неперевершений шедевр світової літератури

«Повість про Гендзі» - це не просто книга, а справжня подорож у часі, яка занурює читача в епоху Х-ХІ століть, коли японська культура переживала свій розквіт. Мурасакі Сікібу вдалося створити глибокий і багатошаровий світ, де переплітаються любов, політика, мистецтво і філософія. Гендзі, як головний герой, втілює в собі всі тонкощі людських стосунків, його переживання та емоції настільки реалістичні, що з ними легко ідентифікувати себе. Переклад, хоч і має деякі недоліки, все ж передає основну суть та красу оригіналу, що робить цю книгу доступною для широкого кола читачів. Додаткова інформація в п'ятій книзі є безцінним ресурсом для тих, хто хоче глибше зрозуміти культурний контекст та поетичні традиції, що оточують цю повість.
