Автор майстерно передає атмосферу епохи, показуючи не лише пригоди головного героя, але й глибокі соціальні та культурні зміни, які відбуваються на фоні жорстокої боротьби між білими поселенцями та корінними народами. Читач має можливість зануритися в життя Лакот, відчути їх традиції та цінності, а також зрозуміти, як цивілізація вплинула на їхній спосіб життя. Пристрасть, ненависть і кохання, які переплітаються в сюжеті, роблять цю книгу неймовірно емоційною та захопливою. Хоча переклад книги має деякі недоліки, загальний зміст і глибина історії повністю компенсують це.
