“The Tale of Genji” (“Genji-monogatari”), the greatest monument of Japanese and world literature, was created at the turn of the 10th–11th centuries, during the era of the formation and rapid flowering of Japanese culture. Its author is a court lady known as Murasaki Shikibu. The monument is being published in Russian translation for the first time, in five books. The first four books include 54 chapters of the Tale. In this reference book - "Appendix" - in addition to an extensive research article and a set of five lines from old poetic anthologies quoted in the "Tale", there are diagrams, tables, drawings that will help readers navigate the complex world of this work.

Неперевершена класика японської літератури

«Повість про Гендзі» — це не просто книга, а справжній шедевр, який відкриває перед читачем двері в епоху Хейан і занурює в багатий світ японської культури. Мурасакі Сікібу майстерно передає атмосферу того часу, описуючи життя придворних, їхні стосунки, любовні інтриги та складні моральні дилеми. Ця книга вражає своєю глибиною, емоційністю та психологічною складністю персонажів. Переклад російською мовою дозволяє ще більше оцінити красу оригінального тексту, а додаток з дослідницькою статтею та візуальними матеріалами стає чудовим супутником для тих, хто хоче глибше зрозуміти контекст і символіку твору. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цікавиться не лише японською літературою, а й світовою культурою в цілому. Це справжнє мистецтво, яке варто прочитати!
