This publication continues to acquaint readers with the texts of Mikh, unpublished to this day. Lifshits. In the 1930s. Lifshitz studied Montaigne, making extracts from the Essays and accompanying them with comments. The book about Montaigne was not written by Lifshitz, but his excerpts have been preserved. “What distinguishes Montaigne from the enlighteners is a much deeper understanding that the existing disharmony is associated with the historical development of self-consciousness. Recognizing the diversity and relativity of points of view, the enlighteners, in accordance with their cognitive objectivism, sought a certain natural opinion, proceeded from the abstract opposition of truth and error. The development of consciousness was a benefit for them, opposing the totality of all errors and wanderings of fantasy and feeling. Montaigne is characterized by a more dialectical, more historical understanding of the tragedy of subject and object.” From Mich’s comments. Lifshitz to Chapter XIV of Book I of Montaigne's Essays.

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
