Once upon a time, an unusual literary discovery occurred. Two previously unpublished poems by the author of The Lord of the Rings, John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, were discovered in England, as the BBC writes. In fact, the poems were found a long time ago, they were just not published or talked about to the general public. Poems "Noel" and "The Shadow Man" were published in 1936 in the yearbook of Our Lady's School, Abingdon, a year before The Hobbit was released. It is believed that Tolkien was in touch with the school while he was teaching Old English at Oxford University. The discovery was made possible by Tolkien scholar Wayne Hammond. In personal notes, the writer once mentioned that two of his works appeared in the magazine, which he himself called “The Abingdon Chronicle”.
