Hercules in Heiner Müller's play is more of a comic character. Gluttonous and difficult to climb, he has already completed 4 feats. And then two Thebans come to him to ask him for a fifth. He must clean out the Augean stables. His entire feat, familiar to us from childhood through heroic descriptions, is shown in the play as the difficult work of a very real person. Who doesn’t want to do this, who is always in an internal struggle to persuade himself to work further. At some point, he even wants to impersonate someone else, to renounce his heroism. He argues with his father. But he immediately agrees to work when Heba is offered as a reward. Hercules in this comedy is much more human than the demigod we all know. This makes him both funny and relatable to us at the same time.
