Book "Akatsuki" in front of Port Arthur (from the diary of a Japanese naval officer)
Under this title, a small book appeared in Germany containing notes from the diary of the Japanese naval officer Nirutaka about the active participation of the destroyer Akatsuki, which was under his command, in the battles near Port Arthur. These notes are very interesting. By the way, what is interesting about them is the very peculiar coverage of many of the details of these battles and the author’s clearly hostile attitude towards Europeans in general and Russians in particular, characteristic purely Japanese bragging, as well as remarks about Admiral Togo. We give here a complete translation of this interesting publication (Editor's note of the New Journal of Literature, Art and Science).
