Montaigne’s “Travel Diary” was until now practically unknown in Russia. The manuscript, found by chance 178 years after the death of its author, was first published in France in 1774. The time has come to present the “Diary” to the Russian reader. Montaigne’s “Experiences” are read and loved all over the world, but few people know that after his travels through Germany, Switzerland and France, Montaigne made more than six hundred additions to the two already published volumes of “Essays” and wrote the third volume, a significant part of which consists of observations taken from his travel notes. An attentive reader will certainly pay attention to this overlap between the “Diary” and “Experiments” - the books complement each other, deepening and expanding the understanding of certain fragments. The work is published in Russian for the first time.

Відкриття для російського читача!

«Шляховий щоденник» Мішеля де Монтеня - це справжній культурний скарб, який нарешті став доступним для російськомовних читачів. Ця книга не лише відображає подорожі автора по Німеччині, Швейцарії та Італії, але й занурює нас у глибокі роздуми про життя, культуру та людську природу. Монтень, як завжди, вражає своїм проникливим спостереженням і філософським підходом до повсякденних ситуацій. Читання «Щоденника» стало для мене справжнім відкриттям, адже я зміг побачити світ його очима, відчути атмосферу епохи та зрозуміти, як подорожі формують наше сприйняття реальності. Хоча переклад, виконаний за допомогою штучного інтелекту, має деякі недоліки, це не зменшує цінності самого тексту. Я рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує класичну літературу та прагне розширити свої горизонти!
