Book Liberated Jerusalem. New translation
If I [Roman Dubrovkin] were asked to briefly define the essence of Torquato Tasso’s poem “Jerusalem Liberated,” I would answer in one word: “conflict.” Conflict at all levels - military, ideological, moral, symbolic. This is the collision of two worlds - Christianity and Islam, and the struggle of civilization against barbarism, and the opposition of the rural elements to the emerging City. Against this sublime (universal) background there are many contradictions that are not so large-scale, dictated by feelings characteristic of human nature - envy, vanity, offended pride, self-interest. The main theme of the book, however, is the antagonism between the forces of Good and Evil.
The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
