The book was written in 1933, translated by N. L. Trauberg, published by: Chesterton J. K. St. Thomas Aquinas. N.Y., 1933. Russian translation made in 1961 - 1966. In typescript it has been known to the Soviet reader since the moment of translation, at first only in separate chapters. Chapter 2 was included in the samizdat collection of Chesterton’s works, compiled by Father Alexander Men in 1975.

The translation was revised in 1990. Comments by L. B. Summ with the participation of N. L. Trauberg
