The German Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary, better known in our country as the Teutonic Order (and also under the absolutely fantastic name of the “Livonian Order”, which has never existed in history), has had no luck in Russian historiography, fiction and cinematography. Since childhood, almost everyone remembers the expression “knight dogs,” although in Russian chronicles and the lives of noble princes - for example, in “The Life of Alexander Nevsky” - these “dogs” were called much more respectfully: “God’s nobles,” “God’s servants,” “God’s servants.” rhetoric", that is, "God's knights". The word “Teutonic” immediately involuntarily suggests an associative series - “Battle of the Ice”, “iron pig”, “the cradle of the aggressive Prussian-Junker state” and, of course, “the forerunners of German fascism”. This set of stamps could be continued indefinitely if desired. What exactly were the “Teutons”? What were their ideals for which they were willing to give their lives without hesitation? The time has finally come to abandon the cliches and try soberly, without emotions, to figure out who these terrible “dog-knights, not like people” are. The book was published in the author’s edition.

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
