Автор майстерно з'єднує історичні факти з філософськими роздумами, що дозволяє глибше зрозуміти, чому самурайство стало таким важливим елементом японської ідентичності. Особливо вражає паралель між самурайським військовим станом та християнським лицарством, що надає новий погляд на ці дві культури.
