The main work of the Byzantine philosopher, theologian, historian, astronomer and writer Nikifor Grigora (Νικηφόρος Γρηγοράς) includes 37 books and covers the period from 1204 to 1359. The author describes in most detail the historical figures of his time and the events he witnessed (and often participated in) of which he was like a person close to the imperial court. Grigora displays impressive scrupulousness, but his style is pompous and tendentious. More than close attention is paid to religious issues and dogmatic disputes. Three volumes under one cover. Translation by R. V. Yashunsky.

Глибоке занурення в історію Візантії

Книга "Історія ромеїв, 1204-1359" є справжнім скарбом для всіх, хто цікавиться візантійською історією та культурою. Нікифор Григора, як свідок і учасник подій, пропонує читачеві унікальний погляд на складні часи, коли Візантія переживала численні кризи та трансформації. Його скрупульозний підхід до опису подій, а також увага до релігійних питань та догматичних суперечок роблять цю працю надзвичайно цінною для істориків і дослідників. Хоча стиль автора може здаватися помпезним, це лише підкреслює його глибоке захоплення темою. Переклад Р. В. Яшунського, хоч і має деякі недоліки, все ж передає дух оригіналу. Ця книга стане чудовим доповненням до бібліотеки кожного, хто прагне зрозуміти складну історію Візантії та її вплив на сучасний світ.
