“The Tale of Genji” (“Genji-monogatari”), the greatest monument of Japanese and world literature, was created at the turn of the 10th–11th centuries, during the era of the formation and rapid flowering of Japanese culture. Its author is a court lady known as Murasaki Shikibu. The monument is being published in Russian translation for the first time, in five books. The first four books include 54 chapters of the Tale. In this reference book - "Appendix" - in addition to an extensive research article and a set of five lines from old poetic anthologies quoted in the "Tale", there are diagrams, tables, drawings that will help readers navigate the complex world of this work.

Неперевершена класика японської літератури

«Повість про Гендзі» - це справжній шедевр, який варто прочитати кожному, хто цікавиться не лише японською культурою, а й світовою літературною спадщиною. Мурасакі Сікібу вдалося створити глибокий, багатошаровий сюжет, який охоплює не лише особисті переживання головного героя, а й складні соціальні та політичні аспекти епохи Хейан. Ця книга вражає своєю емоційною глибиною, деталізацією персонажів та їхніх стосунків, а також витонченістю стилю. Додаток до книги, що містить дослідницькі статті та поетичні антології, робить читання ще більш захоплюючим, адже він допомагає краще зрозуміти контекст твору. Хоча переклад має деякі недоліки, загальна якість тексту залишається високою, і це не заважає насолоджуватися цим літературним шедевром. Рекомендую всім, хто прагне зануритися у світ японської культури та історії!
