“Machine of Desires” is a film story (film script), one of the versions of “Roadside Picnic”. At the center of the story is a dramatic and psychologically convincing image of a “stalker”, a good but confused guy who, at his own peril and risk, makes deadly forays to the so-called “Visitation zones” - places of transit landings of mysterious aliens who left behind many incomprehensible artifacts. It is the latter that make up the bitter bread of stalkers (everyone is illegally hunting for unexpected alien gifts - from scientists to military and criminal structures).
