The collection includes the historical works of Bede the Venerable (672-735), an Anglo-Saxon theologian, historian and chronologist. At the Council of Aachen in 836, he was proclaimed “a venerable and amazing teacher of our time” and equated with the Fathers of the Church, and in 1899 he was canonized by the Catholic Church. Bede is the author of more than 40 works, the main one of which, “The Ecclesiastical History of the English People,” brought him the fame of “the father of English history.” In addition to this work, all of Bede’s historical works in this book are published in Russian for the first time. For students of the humanities, researchers, as well as a wide range of history buffs.

Важливий внесок в історичну літературу

Ця збірка творів Біди Високоповажного – справжній скарб для всіх, хто цікавиться історією Англії та її культурою. Автор, як видатний богослов і хронолог, пропонує читачеві глибокий погляд на події, що формували англійську націю. Особливо вражає «Церковна історія народу англів», яка не лише розкриває історичні факти, але й надає контекст для розуміння соціальних і культурних змін того часу. Переклад, хоча й має деякі недоліки, все ж передає дух оригіналу та дозволяє насолодитися глибиною думки автора. Ця книга стане чудовим ресурсом для студентів гуманітарних спеціальностей, науковців, а також усіх, хто прагне дізнатися більше про історію та спадщину Англії. Я рекомендую цю збірку всім, хто цінує якісну історичну літературу та бажає зануритися в епоху, що формувала сучасну Європу.
