The collection includes the historical works of Bede the Venerable (672-735), an Anglo-Saxon theologian, historian and chronologist. At the Council of Aachen in 836, he was proclaimed “a venerable and amazing teacher of our time” and equated with the Fathers of the Church, and in 1899 he was canonized by the Catholic Church. Bede is the author of more than 40 works, the main one of which, “The Ecclesiastical History of the English People,” brought him the fame of “the father of English history.” In addition to this work, all of Bede’s historical works in this book are published in Russian for the first time. For students of the humanities, researchers, as well as a wide range of history buffs.

Неперевершене джерело знань про англосаксонську історію!

Ця збірка історичних творів Біди Високоповажного є справжнім скарбом для всіх, хто цікавиться історією Англії та її культурною спадщиною. Автор, який вважається «батьком англійської історії», майстерно поєднує богословські роздуми з історичними фактами, що робить його твори не лише інформативними, але й надзвичайно цікавими для читання. Особливо вражає «Церковна історія народу англів», яка відкриває перед читачем захоплюючий світ давніх часів, розкриваючи деталі, які, можливо, залишилися б невідомими без цього твору.
