Book “Lenora” by G. Burger, “Linore” by E. Poe and similar ballads (collection)
Gottfried Burger's ballad "Lenora", written in 1773, became an example of a romantic poetic work and gave rise to many imitations and translations. Vasily Zhukovsky turned to the plot of the poem three times: in 1808 he translated “Lenora” into the ballad “Lyudmila”, later, in 1808-1812, into the ballad “Svetlana”, and finally, in 1831, he translated it more accurately under the author’s title. It is believed that Edgar Poe's poem "Linor" (1843) was written under the strong impression of the Burger's ballad, which Poe wrote about more than once in his essays.
The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
