“Dream in the Red Chamber” is the most famous and largest Chinese novel. Cao Xueqin (1724 – 1764) created a fascinating saga about three generations of a large aristocratic family. She rises when the emperor takes one of the girls of the Jia clan as a concubine. The main character, Jia Baoyu, has been bathed in luxury from a young age, all earthly blessings are available to him. The novel is full of love, numerous characters are connected with each other by sensual relationships, which are accompanied by jealousy and intrigue. The complex structure of this wonderful work, the psychological motivation of the actions of its heroes, the poems that are organically included in the fabric of the narrative - all this constitutes the convincing advantages of “Dream in the Red Chamber” - a recognized masterpiece not only of Chinese, but also of world literature.

Неперевершений шедевр світової літератури

«Сон у червоному теремі» – це не просто роман, а справжня епопея, яка занурює читача у світ китайської аристократії XVIII століття. Цао Сюецінь майстерно описує життя трьох поколінь родини Цзя, розкриваючи їхні переживання, інтриги та стосунки. Головний герой, Цзя Баоюй, втілює в собі всі суперечності та складнощі людської природи, а його стосунки з жінками, сповнені любові та ревнощів, роблять сюжет ще більш захоплюючим. Якість перекладу, хоч і має деякі недоліки, не заважає насолоджуватися глибиною та красою оригінального тексту. Вірші, які органічно вплетені в оповідання, додають особливого шарму та емоційності. Цей роман варто прочитати кожному, хто цінує літературу, що вражає своєю психологічною глибиною та естетичним багатством. «Сон у червоному теремі» залишає незабутнє враження і спонукає до роздумів про природу людських стосунків, що робить його актуальним і в наш час.
