The book includes two outstanding works of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin (1799–1837): the novel “Dubrovsky” and “Belkin’s Tales”. The main character of the novel “Dubrovsky” (1833), Vladimir Dubrovsky, is a noble robber. Fate forced him to take a criminal path: he was unjustly convicted by the authorities of arson and murder. Dubrovsky seeks revenge on his enemy - the extravagant landowner Kirill Troekurov, who brought his father to death and gave false testimony against Dubrovsky in court. Vladimir is hired into Troekurov's house under the guise of a tutor. However, his plans are not destined to come true: unexpectedly he falls in love with Troekurov’s daughter, Masha... “The Stories of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin” (1831) consists of 5 stories: “The Shot”, “The Blizzard”, “The Undertaker”, “The Station Agent” and “The Young Lady” "peasant woman." All of them are examples of various literary styles: realism, sentimentalism, gothic story, and even vaudeville. "Belkin's Tales" is a unique work of Russian literature of the 19th century, which opened new horizons of creative development for many famous writers.
