Book Yellow Chief
In pre-abolition times, there was no area where slavery was as severe as in the lower Mississippi known as “The Coast.” This is especially true in Mississippi. On large cotton and tobacco plantations, many owners did not show up on their property for six months, and management was entrusted to overseers, irresponsible and in many cases cruel people. The mulatto slave Blue Dick, after yet another unfair punishment, hides from his masters and vows revenge. Having become the leader of a detachment of Indians, he terrifies the area with his bandit attacks. Soon the former owners find themselves in his hands.
