Certainly, the toasts collected in this book are ancient, they do not reflect today's virgin soil of life of people of Daghestan, but they carry in itself moral ancient wisdom of people, passed from mouths in mouths, from a generation to the generation.In this edition it is included much new toasts, mainly about love and about a woman, in fact not small one time it had to me after exit of the first edition of toasts to be on wedding, where now and women sit next to men at one table and not only listen the wonderful speeches addressed to them but also such tell to wisdom, that worldly-wise speakers listen them with admiration.And yet I counted up expedient to plug two poems in a book - the "Eighteenth spring" and "Eagles fly from mountains", sanctified to concrete personalities, sons of mountains, as personifying by itself in lives courage and devotion to Motherland, what their highlander wisdom always called to.Toasts, parables parting octave translated into the Russian language by the rhymed verse. It appears me important, that Vladimir Туркин, translating Avar texts, saved in them, from one side, high style of solemnity, and from other are free speech, colloquial intonations peculiar to these toasts and parables, not "заакадемизировал" them, and gave them character some language обытовленности and simplicity, as they are taken from verbal everyday life.
