A significant characteristic of the demographic situation in recent decades is the annual increase in the number of children with disabilities (HIA). They require special conditions of education, social adaptation and upbringing. The general task of the family, parents and state institutions (children's preschool institutions, schools, correctional and rehabilitation centers) is to adapt a child with disabilities to an independent life as best as possible. Its solution requires concerted efforts from all participants in the upbringing and educational processes, including assistance to parents in studying information of a medical, psychological and pedagogical nature. This makes the educational component of psychological assistance to parents of children with disabilities important and in demand, which, in turn, determines the relevance of the analysis of the currently available scientific research data given in the monograph.The experience of counseling work with families shows that for parents of children with disabilities, it is very important not only to get acquainted with the peculiarities of raising a child with disabilities, but also psychological assistance in raising the general level of pedagogical competence in such matters as child-parent conflicts, the quality of intra-family communication, cohesion in the children's subsystem of the family - among brothers and sisters. In this regard, special attention is paid to these aspects of family education. The materials that have confirmed their effectiveness in practice are given.
