The Mahabharata is one of the most famous and probably the most important scriptures of ancient India, this epic includes the Bhagavad Gita, which conveys the essence of the whole work in a concise form. The Gita is written in the form of a dialogue between the prince Arjuna and his charioteer Krishna, who is the Divine Incarnation, which reveals great spiritual truths to the prince. The Gita affirms a positive attitude towards the world and the universe and teaches action based on spiritual knowledge - Karma Yoga.Sri Aurobindo, denoting his attitude to this with the words “All life is Yoga”, certainly attached special importance to the book . He made his own translation of the Gita into English and wrote commentaries on it, which were subsequently published under the title Essay on the Gita. This volume contains the first part of this work.
