Юліан Семенов майстерно поєднує елементи напруженого сюжету з глибокими психологічними портретами персонажів, що робить читання неймовірно захоплюючим. Сищики полковник Садчиків, майор Костенко та старший лейтенант Росляков стають справжніми героями, які не бояться ризикувати своїм життям заради справедливості. Роман сповнений несподіваних поворотів, що тримають у напрузі до останньої сторінки. Хоча переклад тексту місцями може бути не ідеальним, це не заважає насолоджуватися чудовою історією.
