The artist Jon Bauer is the most famous Swedish "portraiter" of the heroes of Scandinavian folklore. With special love, he treated the owners of the Swedish mountains and forests - the trolls. From 1907 to 1915 he illustrated the almanac of fairy tales Among Elves and Trolls, published annually in Sweden for Christmas. As the first artist of this popular publication, Jon Bauer gained fame outside his native country, becoming a classic of fairy-tale and mythological illustration.
