Автор майстерно описує період життя Сергія Дягілева, його боротьбу з бездіяльністю та прагнення відродити "Дягилевские Російські балети". Читачі можуть відчути атмосферу Швейцарії під час Першої світової війни, де Дягілев, незважаючи на всі труднощі, знаходить нову мету та натхнення.
