Автор майстерно описує передісторію та наслідки революції, що стала знаковою подією в регіоні. Особливо вражає детальний аналіз боротьби генерала Аугусто Сандино, який став символом опору американській окупації. Книга не лише розкриває військову та економічну політику диктатури клану Сомос, але й показує, як ця політика вплинула на життя простих людей.
