Сабахаттін Алі вдало поєднав у цьому романі великі теми - взаємовідносини культур і етносів, духовні пошуки та муки героя, а також атмосферу післявоєнної Німеччини. Через призму життя головного героя, який переживає важкі випробування та шукає своє місце у світі, автор розкриває великі світові проблеми та внутрішні конфлікти. Роман наповнений глибокими філософськими роздумами, які заставляють читача задуматися над сенсом життя та взаємовідносинами між людьми. Сюжетно насичений, кожна сторінка книги захоплює своєю інтригою та несподіваними поворотами.
