In the monograph, for the first time in Russian art history, an attempt is made to form a holistic view of the architecture of southern Spain in the Baroque era. It is based on a detailed historical and art criticism analysis of the architecture of Andalusia in modern times. The author has developed a new system for classifying architectural monuments as a single historical picture of the formation of the Baroque style from its origins in the royal court of Madrid to the heyday of the “magnificent” Andalusian Baroque.The opposition of the architecture of Western and Eastern Andalusia with their cultural centers in Granada and Seville is considered as two lines of stylistic development, where the originality of provincial art, the unity of the plastic language and its diversity of artistic expression in the current cultural and historical space were most clearly manifested.The book is intended both for specialists in the field of art in Spain and for a wide circle of readers interested in the history of Spanish culture.
