Ця книга, написана майстерною рукою Лейли Слимани, котра є лауреатом Гонкуровської премії, залишає за собою незабутні враження та думки. Життя головної героїні, Адель, виглядає ідеально ззовні - успішна кар'єра, щасливий шлюб, прекрасний син, комфортне житло у Парижі. Проте під цим ідеальним фасадом ховаються розчарування, пошук сексу та постійна потреба в задоволенні. Адель знаходить у сексі спосіб втішити себе, але це тільки на мить, поки не настає новий напад.
