Book Cratylus
"Cratyl" is a philosophical dialogue of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, in which questions about the nature of language and its influence on the essence of things are discussed. The main characters of the dialogue, Socrates, Callius and Cratylus, draw attention to how through language we reflect the world around us and communicate with each other. The author expresses his opinion about whether the language has an objective meaning or whether it is built on random agreements.
In the dialogue "Kratyl", the author proves with the help of a real-life example that the same word can be used to denote different concepts, and that language can be unstable and subjective in defining reality. This book leaves the reader with questions about the nature of language, the means of influencing our thinking and understanding of the world.
