Guy Debord (1931–1994) was a French art theorist, avant-garde artist, philosopher, writer and film director, founder of the Situationist International. This book presents his seminal works The Society of the Spectacle (1967) and Commentaries on the Society of the Spectacle (1988).The “society of the spectacle” is a metaphor for a world in which direct contact with reality has been lost: “everything that was previously experienced directly is now withdrawn into performance.” The work is devoted to the analysis and criticism of both the Western capitalist system - the “society of dispersed spectacle”, and the Soviet authoritarian system - the “society of concentrated spectacle”. “Comments” presents a society of integrated performance, which includes both totalitarian control and the dictates of a consumer society. Вражаюча та провокаційна книга, яка змушує задуматися над сучасним світом!

«Суспільство вистави» Гі Дебора – це не просто теоретичний трактат, а справжня філософська подорож у глибини нашого існування в епоху медіа та споживання. Автор майстерно аналізує, як сучасна культура перетворилася на безпосереднє споживання образів і уявлень, втрачаючи при цьому зв’язок із реальністю. Його критика як західної капіталістичної системи, так і радянської авторитарної системи викликає багато запитань про наше місце в цій «виставі». Дебор вміло показує, як суспільство інтегрованої вистави контролює наші думки та бажання, змушуючи нас ставати пасивними спостерігачами замість активними учасниками. Незважаючи на деякі недоліки в перекладі, які можуть відволікати, сам зміст книги є настільки глибоким і важливим, що варто його прочитати. Це обов'язкова книга для тих, хто прагне зрозуміти механізми сучасного суспільства та знайти своє місце в ньому.
