Sixteen-year-old Allyssa seems to be the ideal princess of Imperion - beautiful and sophisticated. She spends her days locked in the suffocating cage known as the royal court. But at night, Allissa, hiding her identity, hunts criminals and helps the people with her own hands. Unfortunately, her nightly adventures will have to wait, because the inhabitants of Imperion need to be saved from something more dangerous than ordinary criminals. Forced to agree to an alliance through marriage with a handsome prince from a neighboring kingdom, she feels even more constrained. To make matters worse, the prince is inseparable from his nosy squire, Jarvik, who watches her every move. Jarvik annoys her, but he is the only one she can turn to when she uncovers a terrible plot. Together, the odd couple will have to work together to stop an enemy that could destroy her family and the people of Imperion. The cage that Allissa so wanted to escape from will become the one she tries to keep intact. To save the kingdom, she must sacrifice her freedom, her heart, and maybe even her life.
