The intrusions of the sinister and supernatural into everyday life, the dramatic clashes between the superstitions of the past and the skepticism of the present are narrated - sometimes jokingly, sometimes seriously, sometimes slowly, and sometimes with almost detective tension - by the masters of Gothic stories Elizabeth Gaskell, Henry James, Edith Wharton, John Bakan , William Fryer Harvey and other authors. Most of the works included in the collection are published in new translations; a number of stories are published in Russian for the first time.

Чарівний світ містики та готики

Ця книга - справжня знахідка для любителів містичних історій та готичної літератури! Збірка оповідань англо-американських письменників XIX–XX століття занурює читача в атмосферу загадковості та надприродного, де добре знайомі казкові персонажі та привиди оживають на сторінках. Кожна історія має свій унікальний стиль та настрій, від легкого жарту до напруженого детективного сюжету. Особливо вразили оповідання про вчених-окультистів та небезпечні артефакти, які змушують задуматися про межі між реальністю та фантазією. Важливо зазначити, що більшість творів представлені у нових перекладах, що робить їх доступними для російськомовних читачів. Хоча іноді трапляються недоліки в перекладі, загальне враження від книги залишається позитивним. Рекомендую цю збірку всім, хто хоче поринути в світ таємниць та містичних пригод!
