In the first half of the last century, passenger airliners remained the only means of transport that allowed a traveler to comfortably cross from one continent to another. These were beautiful ocean-going ships - the embodiment of the latest achievements in hydrodynamics, energy, naval architecture, decor... On such a liner, a passenger should have felt at home. Unfortunately, little is known about the fate of these ships. But many of them managed to prove themselves not only in peacetime, but also took an active part in world wars and local conflicts of the 20th century. This book tells about little-known facts of the biography of famous passenger liners, which in one capacity or another participated in hostilities. The text is accompanied by rare photographs of passenger ships. The first part of the book is dedicated to liners built before the First World War, such as the Kronprinz Wilhelm, Lusitania, Olympic, Britannic, Vaterland and some others. The second part of the book describes about ships built between the two world wars - Queen Mary, Normandy, Rex, Bremen, Wilhelm Gustloff, Canberra and others.

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
