“The Daughter of a Thousand Jeddaks” (the original title was “Under the Moons of Mars”, in the Russian translation it was also published as “The Princess of Mars” (this is the name of the original “A Princess of Mars”). This science fiction novel is the first in the Martian series by Edgar Burroughs .

The main character of the novel is John Carter, a captain in the Confederate States Army, set in 1866. After defeat in the Civil War, Carter decides to go to Arizona to mine gold after a skirmish with the Indians who killed his friend. , he is attacked by a strange paralysis, but he did not die, and, having acquired a second body, ended up on Mars.

Книга Эдгара Берроуза "Дочь тысячи джеддаков" — это захватывающее путешествие в мир фантастики, которое переносит читателя на Марс, где разворачиваются невероятные события. Главный герой, Джон Картер, — это персонаж с яркой индивидуальностью, который вызывает симпатию и интерес. Его приключения полны экшена, интриг и романтики, что делает чтение увлекательным. Берроуз мастерски описывает марсианский ландшафт и культуру, создавая живую картину инопланетного мира. Однако, несмотря на все плюсы, книга имеет и свои недостатки.
