Book Money and the mechanism of exchange
In the now classic book by one of the co-authors of the marginalist revolution in economics, W. St. Jevons (1835–1882) describes in popular form the role of money in the economic system. Written in 1875 during the formation of the international monetary standard, the book examines the issues of gold, silver, and paper money standards. Of particular interest is the detailed discussion of Gresham's Law (Chapter VII), competing monetary units (Chapter VI), and methods of regulating paper money circulation (Chapter XII).
The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
