Dumas’ story “Otho the Archer” is a free adaptation of a number of Lower Rhine (German and Dutch) legends, inscribed in the specific historical context of the mid-14th century. In this story, as in many of his other works, Dumas uses the technique of combining fiction and reality: real place names, titles, surnames, names are attached in never-existing combinations to the characters created by his imagination. Illustrations by E. Ganeshina

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
