Автор майстерно створює напружену атмосферу, де головний герой, Лемартес, бореться не лише з ворогами, але й зі своїми внутрішніми демонами. Його боротьба з Чорною Лютостю робить його персонажа глибоким і багатогранним, а читач відчуває кожен його страх і тривогу. Сюжет переповнений епічними битвами, які захоплюють дух, та вражаючими описами планети Флегетон, що підкреслює жахи війни.
