Almost always, when we talk about Vikings, we think about men. And almost never about women. Nevertheless, women played an important role in the society of the medieval North. When the husband went on a Viking campaign, the woman remained the mistress of the estate. Women were treated with constant respect and their opinions were listened to. And often in male disputes, the woman had the last word. Often women were even more obsessed than men with the need - according to the Norman code of honor - to perform a “rite of revenge.”

The collection includes two novels, the focus of which is fate and the role of women in the society of the Scandinavian Middle Ages. One of the novels belongs to the pen of the Norwegian Nobel Prize winner Sigrid Undset (1882 - 1949), and the second - to continue the traditions of the famous compatriot, Vera Henriksen.
