Book Creating a world without poverty
In his book, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus proposes a new economic model - “social business”. According to this model, the purpose of business is not to make a profit, but to create social benefits: for example, to feed the poor. However, this is not a charity, since investors are returned their initial investment, but all profits are reinvested into the same business, which is directly related to the social cause. The author also proposes a microfinance approach where small amounts of money are given as loans to poor people to start and grow small businesses. This allows them to earn income and provide themselves with a decent life. Professor Yunus's economic model is not an abstraction - he is first and foremost a practitioner who has created many businesses in his home country of Bangladesh, as well as in developing countries around the world, which has lifted millions of people out of poverty.
