Автор зумів передати всю красу та суворість полярних країв, а також розповісти про свої враження та переживання під час мандрівок до всіх восьми полюсів Землі. Його захоплення та пристрасть до дослідження цих віддалених куточків планети відчуваються на кожній сторінці. Крім того, Паулсен вміло поєднує особисті історії з історією полярних досліджень, що робить книгу ще більш цікавою та пізнавальною.
