In 1941, the literary history of Major Pronin began with a small book. Six short stories revolutionized Soviet mass literature. For the first time, the people found a real modern hero. Intricate crimes, cunning conspiracies, and the grace with which the major solved them ensured Pronin’s popular love and place in the pantheon of great detectives of the 20th century. The second volume of this two-volume set included the largest work with the participation of Major Pronin - the story “The Copper Button”, and also "Secret Weapon" - a political detective story of the Cold War. It was from such books that Yulian Semenov and the Weiner brothers studied. After this novel, Pronin does not appear in the works of Lev Ovalov. The entire Pronin legacy is five books, which reflect almost 25 years of the life of our country, but these books also bear the imprint of the reader’s love.
