Вольфганг Акунов майстерно переносить читача в IV-V століття, коли гунські кочівники, під проводом Аттіли, стали справжньою загрозою для Римських імперій. Автор не лише описує військові кампанії гунів, але й глибоко аналізує їхню культуру, соціальну структуру та вплив на європейську історію. Книга написана живою та динамічною мовою, що робить її читання надзвичайно приємним. Хоча переклад має деякі недоліки, загальна якість тексту не зменшує враження від прочитаного. Це видання стане в нагоді як історикам, так і любителям історії, які хочуть дізнатися більше про цей загадковий народ і його вплив на розвиток Європи.
