Олександр Куланов, завдяки своїй майстерності та знанням, зумів донести до нас не лише факти, але й емоції, які супроводжують японське сприйняття сексуальності. Він вміло балансує на межі між описом традицій та їх культурним контекстом, що дозволяє уникнути спрощення чи стереотипізації. Книга насичена цікавими історіями про фалічні культи, гейш, аніме та інші аспекти, які можуть шокувати європейського читача, але водночас відкривають нові грані японської культури.
