All the essays in the collection were created on occasion, for presentation at conferences and meetings. Despite the variety of topics, all the essays are of an ethical nature, that is, they talk about what is good to do, what is bad to do and what should not be done under any circumstances. “Migrations, Tolerance and the Intolerable” is a collage. The first excerpt is the opening passage of my opening speech on January 23, 1997, at the opening of the congress held in Valencia on the theme “Prospects for the Third Millennium.” The second part is a translated and revised opening statement at the International Forum on Tolerance, held in Paris by the Universal Academy of Culture on March 26-27, 1997. The third part is an article in Repubblica on the days of the publication of the verdict of the Roman military court in the Priebke case.

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
