What does it mean to have a life that is just wheat, and your death depends not on you, but on a farmer who is angry with the whole world?... The story was written in 1943 (with the participation of Leigh Brackett) and revised in 1946, in preparation for the "Dark Carnival". This version is from 1955. During the preparation of “October Country,” new corrections were made (mainly to the ending of the story: “Bomb explosions shook Moscow, London, Tokyo...”).

The book’s text has been translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence system. In most cases, the translation is accurate and clear, but occasionally there may be incorrect phrasing or individual words left untranslated.
