The second issue for 2006 of the periodical popular science publication “The History of the Aircraft” for members of military history clubs talks about the LaGG-3 fighter, which belonged to a new generation of Soviet aircraft that appeared just before the start of the Great Patriotic War. LaGG-3, Yak-1 and MiG-1 were the newest types of vehicles in service with the Red Army at the start of the war. LaGG-3 became the prototype for a whole family of Soviet fighters: La-5, La-7 and La-9.
