Mikhail “His theme is a poet walking through the mountains of time,” writes V. Shklovsky in the article “Mayakovsky in Cinema.” A poet on the screen, a poet-screenwriter, a poet - “not an author, but a subject of lyrics, addressing the world in the first person” (B. Pasternak). This approach was innovative in many ways, as film scholars see similarities between Fellini’s 8 1/2 and How Are You? Mayakovsky is a portrait of himself as a creator. Unfortunately, the film scripts of 1918 have not survived; our collection includes those dated 1926–1928: “Children”, “The Elephant and the Match”, “The Heart of Cinema” and others.
